Laws of attraction. Mike Ralston, Managing Director of Solsoft.

When it comes to IT support, Solsoft is the South West’s finest. With Microsoft Gold Partner certification, they stand alone in expertise and service quality. Unfortunately, the same couldn’t be said of their identity. Now a design partnership with Gravity is yielding impressive results on screen and on paper.

In the South West and South Wales, Solsoft is second to none. The team offers exceptional IT support that’s usually out of reach to small and medium-sized businesses. A refreshing alternative to the traditional white-van repair man, Solsoft makes sure things run smoothly so companies don’t suffer the cost of things going wrong.

But as Managing Director, Mike Ralston explained, Solsoft’s materials didn’t reflect the message: “Our identity was unimaginative. With our marketplace becoming increasingly competitive, we needed a new identity that made customers immediately associate Managed Service IT Support with Solsoft.”

A credentials pitch was arranged between Gravity and three other agencies. Gravity won the day. “We liked Gravity’s clear and clean approach to branding,” Mike explained. “Sam knew where we were coming from. Her offering matched ours in that we compete on the assurance of quality rather than just going for the cheap fix.”

Gravity reflected Solsoft’s intelligent, multi-layered approach through an uncluttered identity featuring thought bubbles and images of people imagining a perfect setting. “At Solsoft, we believe it is people rather than IT which is the most important thing,” said Mike. “Our focus is not on fixing computers. We help people do their jobs better. Gravity placed the human benefits before technology, and that’s what makes the identity work so well.”

Visuals aside, Gravity has also given the Solsoft team the tools they need to put their new identity to work. “From images, logos and stationery to templates for proposals and websites, Sam provided us with everything. It’s a flexible solution that allows us to use the identity in house and in every possible way. We couldn’t be happier with the results.”

Industry insights:
Checking the fine print

Clients often ask us why agencies send them printer proofs to sign, even though they’ve approved the PDFs. Sometimes, it feels like another laborious part of the process. But it’s an essential one.

And another thing:
Another year. Another giant leap for mankind?

At the dawn of a new year, it’s natural to want to embrace mankind's myriad of technological enhancements. So why do I find myself back at my desk (yep, too cold for gardening) wondering why so many of the everyday things we rely on are just rubbish?
